As the most popular hike in the Glenwood Canyon, Hanging Lake is a very heavily used trail. The hike from the parking area to the lake is approximately 1.5 miles and climbs about 1000 vertical feet. No dogs or swimming are allowed. On average leave around 3 hours to enjoy all of the hike. For those not acclimated yet to the altitude or who hike slower than average allow more time. The lake is an amazing blue green bowl carved from the limestone by falling water. Just above Hanging Lake is Spouting Rock which is worth the extra 5 minutes of hiking. Spouting Rock is a waterfall flowing directly out of the side of the cliff face.
