Best known for its namesake type of rock Marble, Colorado is still home to a working quarry. Many buildings and monuments contain stone from the quarry including the Lincoln Memorial and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Today its a sleepy town at the head of the Crystal River Valley. Mostly without services its a popular summer destination.
For those looking to exercise their SUV’s there is the famous Crystal River Mill just outside of town. Getting to the mill requires a short trip on relatively easy four wheel drive road. Beyond it for those more looking for more and with a low range gear box Lead King Basin is a great way to continue a loop back to Marble.
