Cataract Canyon – Moab to Lake Powell
The boat ramp at the end of the Pot Ash road in Moab, UT is the typical starting point for this journey. If time allows it can be started further up the Colorado River. The trip from Pot Ash to Lake Powell is just over 110 miles. Starting on the Green River is another option for the run as Cataract Canyon proper starts at the confluence of the Green River and the Colorado River.
Without a motor at lower flows you can expect 3 & 1/2 days of rowing before r
eaching the confluence. Starting early is mandatory if running on oar power as the afternoon winds in the flats will slow progress to a crawl.
