The Crystal Mill is one of the most iconic photos of the state of Colorado. Located just outside the town of Marble a high clearance vehicle is required for the drive to the mill. The drive, while offroad and rugged, can be done in a vehicle without a low range gearbox. It should not be attempted by those not familiar with driving off pavement. The road continues beyond the Crystal Mill to the very small town of Crystal City. Beyond that point travel will require a vehicle with a low-range transfer case and should only be attempted by those with considerable offroad experience as one of the options from there is Schofield Pass widely considered one of the most dangerous trails in the state.
